As the country marked its 127th Independence Day, Senate President Francis Escudero urged Filipinos to come together amid ongoing political tensions, emphasizing that unity is key to moving forward as a nation.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Escudero underscored the importance of cooperation and healing, especially in light of recent political developments that have tested national cohesion. “Instead of blaming each other or resorting to division, let us advance healing for a brighter future,” he said. “More than ever, we must unite to address the needs of our countrymen and promote order and prosperity.”
Escudero also paid tribute to the sacrifices of Filipino heroes, noting that every time the Philippine flag is raised in celebration of independence, the nation honors their courage and reaffirms its commitment to progress. He called on every citizen to become advocates of freedom—not just in grand gestures, but in daily acts of respect and support for one another.
“Let us start with simple ways like respecting each other, giving opportunities to our neighbors, and continuing to stand up for a brighter tomorrow,” Escudero added.
