Actor-singer Janno Gibbs fired back at online critics after receiving backlash for expressing sympathy toward fellow comedian Dennis Padilla amid recent family issues involving Padilla’s daughter, Claudia Barretto.
The controversy began when Janno commented with three crying emojis on Gene Padilla’s Instagram post, which discussed the alleged snubbing of Dennis by his daughter Claudia and ex-wife Marjorie Barretto during Claudia’s wedding to Basti Lorenzo.
Some netizens quickly criticized Janno, accusing him of enabling Dennis’s behavior. Comments included, “Enabler yarn!” and “Nangungunsinti na naman.”
Janno did not stay silent. In a sharp response on Instagram, he defended himself, saying, “Nakikisimpatya lang sa kaibigan. Mga putnginnyo. Wala nmn ako sinabing sang ayon ako. Malungkot ang kaibigan ko, nakikisimpatya lang ako. Emoji lang, enabler na?”
He continued, “Hindi ko siya pinagtatanggol, mga ulol. Dinadamayan ko lang sa kalungkutan. Mga tanga,” ending his message with a middle finger emoji.
Janno maintained that his post was purely an act of compassion and not an endorsement of any side in the ongoing family dispute.
