Emirates is advising travelers to plan their journeys well in advance this December as passenger numbers at Dubai International Airport are expected to significantly surpass last year’s levels. While daily departures in 2023 averaged over 75,000, this year’s busiest days are projected to see up to 89,000 travelers—a nearly 20% increase. The peak travel days are expected to be December 12-15 and December 20-22 before Christmas, as well as December 27-29 ahead of New Year’s Eve.
To avoid delays, travelers are encouraged to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure. Emirates offers a variety of check-in options to make the process smoother, including the City Check-In and Travel Store in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), where customers can check in and drop bags up to 24 hours before departure. Travelers starting their journeys from Ajman can use the Ajman City Check-In facility at the Central Bus Terminal, while those in Dubai and Sharjah have the option of home check-in services. For convenience, online check-in opens 48 hours before departure, and self-service kiosks are available at the airport.
Families traveling with children can take advantage of priority boarding, free strollers, and arrangements to make the experience more comfortable for younger travelers. Emirates also provides dedicated support for People of Determination, including priority check-in, boarding assistance, and a guide for those with hidden disabilities.
Travelers are reminded to follow baggage regulations, particularly regarding restricted items such as power banks, smart bags, and e-cigarettes. To save time, passengers can also pre-order duty-free items through EmiratesRED.com, with purchases delivered directly to their seat during the flight.
To ensure a seamless travel experience, Emirates encourages customers to download its app, which offers access to flight updates, meal selections, entertainment planning, and more. With these comprehensive services, Emirates aims to provide a hassle-free journey during the busy festive season.
