Dubai-based airline Emirates has reassured travelers that the chances of baggage mishandling are exceptionally low, with just a 0.1% chance of bags being misplaced. The airline made this announcement on Friday, emphasizing its impressive track record of maintaining a 99.9% success rate in baggage handling during the busiest travel months.
From September 2023 to January 2024, Emirates successfully moved an average of 2.7 million bags monthly from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to 140 global destinations. The airline stated, “Emirates has an excellent statistical record for baggage handling, where 99.9% of all baggage coming from Dubai or transferring through reaches its owner on time, at the correct destination.”
Emirates also acknowledged that on rare occasions when baggage is delayed, several scenarios might be responsible. These scenarios include accidentally torn-off baggage tags containing essential information or bags falling off the underground baggage belt while navigating a corner at high speed. Fortunately, these incidents are captured on camera and can be promptly rectified by the airline.
