Emirates Group has announced a four per cent increase in the basic salary for its employees, according to a Khaleej Times report. This announcement follows a recent bonus awarded to employees equivalent to 20 weeks of their salary, thanks to the group’s record-breaking financial performance.
Along with the salary increase, the group is also enhancing other allowances and benefits. There will be a four per cent increase in transport allowance and UAE national retention allowance. Flight deck and cabin crew will see a similar increase in their flying and productivity pay. Additionally, housing allowances will increase by 10-15%, depending on the employee’s grade.
These changes will be outlined in a contractual adjustment letter distributed on July 22. However, the increment will not apply to employees under final warning, those facing disciplinary actions, those who haven’t completed probation by July 1, 2024, or those serving notice periods.
The salary adjustments are part of the 2024 Pay and Benefits Review, approved by the group’s chairman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
Further benefits include increased paid maternity leave from 60 to 90 days, extended paternity leave from five to 10 days, and a doubling of nursing breaks for new mothers from one hour to two hours. Employees in grades 1 to 5 will no longer have to pay for life insurance premiums, as this will be covered by the company. Long-term sick leave enhancements and a 10 per cent increase in the education support allowance will also be effective from September 1, 2024.
