Emirates denies sacking cabin crew over viral behind-the-scenes video

Dubai’s flagship airline, Emirates, has refuted claims that it dismissed employees over a viral behind-the-scenes video featuring its cabin crew.

A YouTube video titled “Behind The Scenes as Emirates Cabin Crew — Things You DON’T See as a Passenger”, published last year, gained significant attention, amassing around 1.3 million views. It showcased flight attendants performing their daily tasks and routines during a flight to Shanghai.

Following the video’s popularity, social media rumors circulated, alleging that the airline had terminated staff involved in the footage. However, an Emirates spokesperson clarified to Khaleej Times on Wednesday that no crew members were dismissed.

“Emirates is aware of the video mentioned and had investigated the matter at the time. We can confirm that no crew was dismissed as a result,” the airline stated in the report.

Similar behind-the-scenes videos from other airlines’ cabin crews have also gone viral on YouTube, drawing millions of views.

Emirates, which saw a 10% increase in its workforce last year, now employs over 112,000 staff worldwide, according to its latest annual report.
