Emirates airlines announces recruitment drive for Airbus staff

Emirates airlines has initiated a global recruitment drive seeking experienced Airbus personnel. This move comes in anticipation of new aircrafts set to join the fleet over the next two years.

The airline is inviting applications for its Direct Entry Captains programme aimed at Airbus A380s. The criteria for this programme require captains to have a minimum of 3,000 hours of recent command experience on Airbus wide-body aircraft.

Moreover, Emirates is offering an Accelerated Command Programme for captains with at least 1,500 hours on Airbus. There’s also a programme for first officers that focuses on candidates with multi-engine, multi-crew aircraft experience.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, UAE airlines, including Emirates, have been proactively recruiting to cater to the rapidly growing travel industry. Reflecting on this trend, the Vice Chancellor of Emirates Aviation University had forecasted a hiring surge last year, highlighting the ample employment opportunities arising from a shortage of skilled aviation staff.

Joining Emirates provides pilots with numerous benefits. The airline boasts a diverse flight crew community, with members from 111 countries. In addition to a comprehensive insurance cover, pilots are offered a host of perks including chauffeur services, annual leave, business class flight tickets, and more.

Emirates is gearing up to welcome its A350s fleet in 2024 and 777-9s in 2025. To ensure they’re prepared, the airline has laid out detailed criteria for different roles:

Direct Entry Captains: Applicants need 7,000 hours of total flight time on multi-crew, multi-engine aircraft, with 3,000 hours on wide-body aircraft like the A380.

Accelerated Command Programme: Captains must have 6,000 hours on multi-crew, multi-engine planes with 3,000 hours of command time on 50-tonne or more aircraft. Successful candidates can get a command upgrade in just over a year.

First Officer: A valid ICAO ATPL is required with 2,000 hours on 20-tonne aircraft.
