Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co has dismissed claims that he owns the Gulfstream jet that transported former President Rodrigo Duterte to the Netherlands, where he is set to face charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a statement, Co clarified that the aircraft with tail number RP-C5219 is not his, refuting misinformation circulating online.
“The jet plane with tail number RP-C5219 which carried former President Rodrigo Duterte to The Netherlands is NOT owned by Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co. Social media posts claiming otherwise are FALSE,” Co’s office said.
He urged the public and media to verify information before spreading unconfirmed reports.
Duterte was taken into custody on Tuesday morning upon arrival from Hong Kong, with the Philippine National Police assisting the International Criminal Police Organization in enforcing the ICC’s arrest order. The former president was accused of crimes against humanity linked to his war on illegal drugs.
Although Duterte and his allies initially contested the arrest, he eventually boarded the chartered flight to The Hague late Tuesday night.
