Eight victims of Duterte’s alleged drug war laid to rest in Caloocan

The remains of eight people killed during the Duterte administration’s war on drugs were finally laid to rest on Saturday in Caloocan City.

The inurnment took place at the Dambana ng Paghilom inside La Loma Catholic Cemetery, where relatives of the victims gathered in mourning. The ceremony was also attended by 2025 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Fr. Flavie Villanueva and Buhay ang People Power Campaign Network co-convenor Kiko Aquino Dee.

The event also marked the conclusion of the Justice for All campaign, a movement that demanded accountability for extrajudicial killings. The campaign began on August 17, coinciding with the eighth death anniversary of Kian delos Santos, one of the most widely known casualties of the anti-drug operations.

Government records show that more than 6,000 drug suspects were killed in official police operations during the campaign against illegal drugs. Human rights groups, however, believe the real number may have reached 30,000 due to unreported cases.
