Eight Filipino seafarers rescued from Houthi-hit ship now safe in Saudi Arabia

Eight Filipino crew members of the M/V Eternity C, which came under attack by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, have safely reached Saudi Arabia, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The seafarers disembarked at the port city of Jizan and are currently under the joint care of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, the Migrant Workers’ Office-Jeddah, and their shipping agency. They will undergo medical evaluations before being repatriated in the coming days.

In a statement, the DFA expressed its appreciation to Saudi authorities, saying, “The DFA wishes to express its deepest gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for extending visa considerations to the 8 Filseafarers on humanitarian grounds.”

The rescue was earlier confirmed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). A total of 21 Filipino crew members were aboard the vessel during the attack.

The DFA assured the public that it will provide updates on any significant developments concerning the remaining Filipino seafarers on the M/V Eternity C.
