An Egyptian expatriate, Ereen Attia, won a 24-karat gold bar in Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket raffle on her first attempt.
Attia, an architect and mother of three, bought her ticket on October 4, inspired by an interview with a previous winner. The following day, she was informed of her unexpected victory.
Big Ticket, a popular raffle in the GCC, is known for its grand prizes, including cash and luxury cars. This month, any ticket purchaser for the December 3 live draw also enters a daily e-draw, with a chance to win a 24-karat gold bar each day.
Other recent winners include Bappa Dey, a Bangladeshi expat in Dubai, who has been participating in the raffle for four years. Dey plans to sell the gold to support his family in Bangladesh.
Muhammed Anwar KP from Kerala, India, won after his third try, intending to use his prize to settle a bank loan.
Similarly, long-time participant Naveen Vengali Raveendran from Kerala, now residing in Dubai, also won, planning to use his share to build a house in India.
