eGovPH app declared secure after investigation reveals no data breach

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has refuted allegations that the eGovPH mobile app was hacked, asserting that reports of a data leak were unfounded. DICT Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs Renato Paraiso stated that an initial investigation conducted by the National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) and the eGov development team found no evidence of a breach.

According to Paraiso, “Results from the initial investigation made by NCERT and eGov showed that no large data transfer, user suspicious behavior or network activity anomaly in the eGovPH system were observed.”

The statement came in response to claims from Deep Web Konek, a local cybersecurity group, which suggested in its blog, Kukublan Philippines, that a potential breach may have affected approximately 200,000 users.

Paraiso emphasized that the eGovPH app remains secure but urged the public to exercise caution when sharing information online and to rely solely on official channels for updates and accurate news.
