E.A.T. production summoned by MTRCB following Wally Bayola’s on-air slip

The producers of the noontime show E.A.T. have been summoned by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) due to host Wally Bayola’s use of profane words during a live episode.

The incident took place on Thursday during the “Sugod Bahay mga Kapatid!” segment of the show.

MTRCB announced in a press release on Friday that they have issued the E.A.T. production team a Notice to Appear and Testify. The board emphasized that the incident breached Section 2 (B), Chapter IV of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Presidential Decree No. 1986 (PD No. 1986).

The official hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 14, at the MTRCB Offices in Timog Avenue, Quezon City. MTRCB’s statement warns that violations of PD No. 1986 could lead to potential suspension or cancellation of permits and licenses, as well as the imposition of fines and other penalties.

In response to the backlash on social media, Wally and co-host Jose Manalo addressed the issue during the show’s Friday episode. Both hosts expressed their apologies for the incident. Jose acknowledged the online feedback and said that it was unintentional but needs to be rectified.

“Ako po ay may nabitiwang salita na hindi ko po dapa sinasabi. Nagkamali po ako doon. At ako po ay humihingi ng inyong paumanhin at pag–unawa ninyong lahat. Pasensya na po, pasensya na po sa lahat,” Wally said.
