Former President Rodrigo Duterte has cancelled his bid for Davao City mayor and is now set to run for senator in the 2025 elections.
According to a report from DZRH radio, Duterte, who has been performing well in pre-election surveys for the Senate, made the switch after withdrawing his candidacy for mayor on October 7.
He is expected to file his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator at the Manila Hotel City Tent, where the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set up a temporary office to handle last-minute submissions from candidates.
