Supporters of former president Rodrigo Duterte have once again circulated a misleading video online, this time linking it to the massive anti-corruption rally in the Philippines on September 21, 2025.
The clip, which has now garnered more than 2.4 million views, shows a sea of people in green running along Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road. The overlaid text falsely claims that the crowd represents Duterte supporters flooding Liwasang Bayan in Manila.
Fact-checking organizations, including VERA Files and AFP, previously debunked this very footage, confirming it originated from the Dubai Run, an annual fitness event, not a political gathering. Some shots were even traced back to as early as 2022, with the political overlays, chants, and slogans added only in recent versions.
The timing of the video’s resurfacing coincides with the nationwide anti-corruption protests in the Philippines, where tens of thousands gathered at Luneta, the EDSA People Power Monument, and other major sites to denounce anomalies in flood-control projects. While those rallies drew genuine crowds, Duterte supporters attempted to repurpose unrelated foreign footage to amplify their narrative.
