Former President Rodrigo Duterte has condemned the recent police raid on the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC) compound, describing it as an act of political harassment and abuse of authority. The raid, which took place last Saturday, was conducted to serve arrest warrants for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is wanted on charges of human trafficking and sexual abuse.
Duterte criticized the operation, which involved 2,000 members of the Philippine National Police, stating that it led to the violation of rights and disregard for the law. He expressed sympathy for the KoJC members affected by the raid, mentioning that one member died of a heart attack and many others required medical attention.
“We call on all Filipinos to pray for peace and justice and to resist the reign of fear and terror by those sworn to uphold the law,” Duterte said in a statement. He urged government officials not to partake in what he views as illegal and abusive actions and questioned the administration’s commitment to preserving constitutional rights amid such incidents.
