Drivers in Dubai, particularly those involved in professional passenger transport, have good news coming their way. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revamped its permit issuance process, allowing for instantaneous online approvals.
Previously, such permits required a waiting period of 24 hours. Now, drivers, ranging from taxi drivers and luxury vehicle operators to school bus drivers, can receive their permits without the wait.
Sultan Al Akraf, the Director of Driver Affairs at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, mentioned that this digital makeover caters to a broad spectrum of drivers.
Steps to Acquire the Permit
The employer or the driver’s affiliated company initiates the process by submitting a permit request on the RTA’s official website and settling the applicable fees.
Drivers are then prompted to download and set up the Dubai Drive application on their smartphones and engage in a pre-registration procedure.
Following the completion of the company’s application, drivers will obtain their digital permit instantly via the RTA-Dubai Drive app.
