Burj Azizi, Dubai’s future second-tallest tower, is set to begin construction in the UAE. Azizi Developments, a prominent local developer, has announced the commencement of this ambitious $1.5 billion project, which aims to become the city’s second-tallest structure upon completion.
While the tower has yet to reveal its final height or architect, it is planned to feature a vertical mall, luxury residences, and an observation deck. With 122 stories, Burj Azizi will join an elite group of skyscrapers worldwide, with only five structures completed at over 120 stories in height. The tower’s location will be in close proximity to the iconic Burj Khalifa on Sheikh Zayed Road, making it a prominent addition to Dubai’s skyline.
Mr. Mirwais Azizi, Chairman of Azizi Developments, expressed his sentiment, stating, “This tower will be our legacy. With Dubai having provided my family and me with safety and abundant opportunities, this tower, as its second tallest, is our way of giving back to this emirate and its remarkably hospitable and welcoming people.”
Currently seeking approvals for its undisclosed final height, Burj Azizi must exceed 1,476 feet to claim the second spot in Dubai’s skyscraper rankings. Some speculations even suggest it could surpass Malaysia’s Merdeka 118 and become the world’s second-largest skyscraper. Details about the tower’s retail component and other design specifics remain undisclosed at this time.
Another significant supertall project in the region, the approximately 3,280-foot Jeddah Tower by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, is also progressing in Saudi Arabia. Burj Azizi is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028, promising to be a remarkable addition to Dubai’s ever-evolving skyline.
