Dubai is set to revolutionize its transportation network with the launch of the ‘Dubai Loop’—an underground tunnel system designed to ease congestion in the city’s busiest areas.
The project was unveiled during a video call at the World Governments Summit 2025 by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The initiative aims to create a network of tunnels that will provide faster and more efficient travel, as announced by WAM on Thursday.
Musk likened the concept to a “wormhole” that would enable rapid travel within Dubai, emphasizing the advantages of tunnels over flying cars, particularly in terms of safety, weather protection, and noise reduction.
Aside from the transport innovation, Musk touched on broader topics, including government efficiency. He advocated for cutting down bureaucracy in the U.S., suggesting that eliminating unnecessary federal agencies could save the country up to a trillion dollars. He also criticized outdated government technology systems, highlighting their lack of interconnectivity.
Additionally, Musk revealed updates on his AI chatbot, Grok 3, which he claimed has demonstrated superior reasoning capabilities compared to other existing models. He hinted at its launch within the next two weeks.
The Dubai Loop project aligns with the city’s vision for a smart and futuristic urban environment, further solidifying its position as a global hub for innovation and technology.
