Dubai is set to open 60 new schools over the next decade as part of a major push to make quality education more accessible to families across the emirate.
The initiative, approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, aims to create 120,000 additional student seats by 2033. It forms part of the Policy to Expand and Promote Affordable High-Quality Schools, which offers incentives such as reduced land leasing costs and lower fees to encourage private-sector investment in education.
The move aligns with Dubai’s broader ambition to be among the world’s top 10 cities for education quality, ensuring that residents have access to diverse and affordable learning options.
The policy was one of several key strategies approved during a meeting of The Executive Council of Dubai, held as part of the UAE Annual Government Meetings 2025. Other major projects included a Dh18.3 billion Public Parks and Greenery Strategy, a Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, and the creation of a Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Court.
Sheikh Hamdan said the new policies reflect the Dubai Plan 2033’s vision of balanced growth: “Guided by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision, we are building a city where development and nature thrive together, where health and wellbeing define progress, and where innovation empowers future generations.”
