This weekend, Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, a major artery in the UAE’s road network, is set to transform into the world’s largest running track for the Dubai Run. As part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge’s month-long event, the highway will be cleared of vehicles on Sunday, November 26, allowing thousands of runners to participate in this unique experience.
The Dubai Run is open to everyone, regardless of age or running ability, and is free of charge. Participants have the choice of two routes, each showcasing some of Dubai’s most famous landmarks. The 5km Downtown stretch starts near the Museum of the Future, leading runners past the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, and concludes near Dubai Mall. The more challenging 10km route begins at the same location, crosses the Dubai Canal bridge, and loops along Sheikh Zayed Road, ending near the DIFC Gate.
An exciting addition to this year’s event is a parade of Dubai Police supercars marking the start of the run. To join the run, participants need to register on the official website and choose their preferred route. Upon registration, they will receive a QR code, which is necessary for collecting their running bibs from Run and Ride Central in One Central until November 25. It’s important to note that runners without a bib will not be allowed to participate.
Last year’s Dubai Run attracted a record-breaking 193,000 participants, including runners, joggers, wheelers, and walkers, making it the largest community fitness event globally.
