The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced that public parking will be free on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2024, with the exception of multi-level parking terminals. This comes as a part of the New Year’s holiday arrangements, which also includes a free parking day on the following Sunday. Normal parking tariffs will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
In addition to the parking announcement, RTA has released the working hours for various services during the New Year’s Eve celebrations and the public holiday on Monday. The changes will affect customer happiness centres, public buses, Dubai Metro and Tram, marine transport, and service provider centres for vehicle technical testing.
Service Provider Centres (Technical Testing): These centres will be closed on Monday and will resume operations on Tuesday.
Customer Happiness Centres: All RTA’s customer happiness centres will remain closed on Monday. However, smart customer happiness centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Kifaf, and RTA’s Head Office will continue to operate 24/7.
Dubai Metro: The Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro will operate from 8 am to 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023, and from 12 midnight to 11:59 pm on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Dubai Tram: The Dubai Tram will run from 9 am to 11:59 pm on Sunday, December 31, 2023, and from 12 midnight to 1 am the next day.
Public Buses: From Monday to Thursday, Dubai Buses will operate from 4:30 am to 12:30 am the next day. Metro link bus services will be synchronized with the metro timings. Routes E100 and E102 will have temporary changes from December 29, 2023, to January 1, 2024.
RTA has also mentioned that certain water taxi services will be available on demand and customers are advised to book in advance. For updates on bus, abra, and water taxi route timings, customers can check online.
