Dubai has welcomed a remarkable arrival – the world’s ‘purest ice’, sourced from over 100,000-year-old glaciers in Greenland. This 22-tonne shipment, crystal-clear and uncontaminated, has journeyed a staggering 20,000 kilometers to reach the UAE.
A Khaleej Times report shares the ice at the Natural Ice factory in Al Quoz, where this rare cargo is meticulously preserved in extreme sub-zero conditions. Arctic Ice, the company responsible for this impressive transport, expressed that numerous restaurants and hotels have shown keen interest in their product. “This ice, ideal for various beverages and food products, is also sought after for beauty treatments and ice baths, owing to its unmatched purity,” said Samir Ben Tabib, Arctic Ice’s chairman of international relations.
The company is selective about its clientele, emphasizing the exclusivity of their product. Packaging is finalized, with delivery anticipated to start in a month.
Unlike regular ice, this glacial ice melts slower and is tasteless, ensuring no alteration to the flavor of drinks. “Our ice remains unaltered by modern industrial pollution,” added the Arctic Ice executive.
The journey of this ice from glaciers to glass isn’t without its complexities. The ice, collected in an environmentally conscious manner, is meticulously selected, processed, and then transported in refrigerated containers. This method ensures minimal impact on the glaciers and environment.
Arctic Ice, with founders including Arctic engineers, is already planning their next shipment, aiming for a more efficient route through Germany to reduce transit time.
Addressing environmental concerns, Tabib assured that their operations are non-intrusive and sustainable, focusing only on ice that naturally detaches from glaciers. The company also plans to move towards carbon-neutral operations, incorporating eco-friendly shipping methods.
