Dubai Police’s smart detection system recently flagged a serious traffic violation after a driver was caught on camera with a child sitting on his lap while behind the wheel. Authorities have since seized the vehicle, warning that such reckless behavior puts both the driver and child at significant risk.
Under the UAE’s Federal Traffic Law, children under 10 years old and shorter than 145 cm are strictly prohibited from sitting in the front seat of a vehicle. Violating this rule not only endangers lives but also carries strict penalties.
Driving in a manner that endangers oneself or others is punishable by a Dh2,000 fine, 23 black points, and a 60-day vehicle impoundment. Dubai Police continue to enhance road safety through AI-powered enforcement and urge the public to report dangerous driving through official channels.
