Dubai Police successfully recovered and returned over Dh76,000 (equivalent to $17,000 and Dh14,000) to a tourist who lost it in a taxi on New Year’s Eve. The incident was reported at 2am, following New Year celebrations, through the Dubai Police Tourist Service on their mobile app.
The tourist, in a moment of distress, informed the police about his lost bag containing a significant amount of money in both dollars and dirhams. The police team, led by Brigadier Khalfan Obaid Al Jallaf, Director of Dubai Tourist Police in the General Department of Criminal Investigation, acted swiftly. Within just 30 minutes, they traced the taxi that the tourist had taken to his hotel and coordinated with the driver to retrieve the lost money pouch.
Brigadier Jallaf commended the taxi driver for his honesty and prompt cooperation in the recovery process. The tourist, overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, praised Dubai Police for their quick response and for ensuring the safe return of his lost funds.
