In a timely response, the Marine Rescue and Maritime Security team from the Dubai Police Ports Police Station rescued a boat owner from a near-collision situation at The World Islands.
The boat owner recounted that his boat malfunctioned during the evening when he was near the breakwater. The force of the water began drawing the boat perilously close to the breakwater. Fearing a collision with the rocks, the distressed boat owner immediately contacted the command and control centre of the Dubai Police for assistance.
An officer from the command centre kept him calm and assured him of help while the marine patrol sped to his location. Thanks to the quick intervention, the patrol was able to tow the boat away from the impending danger.
Expressing his gratitude, the boat owner said, “Thanks to God and the prompt action by the Dubai Police, I was saved from a potential catastrophe.”
Brigadier Dr Hassan Suhail Al Suwaidi, the director of the Ports Police Station, highlighted the importance of the ‘Sail Safely’ service. He recommended all boat owners to register on this service available on the Dubai Police app for rapid assistance in emergencies. Additionally, Dr. Al Suwaidi reiterated the need to contact the Dubai Police Command and Control Centre at 999 during emergency situations.
