Dubai Police have issued a strong warning to parents after a disturbing new online trend known as the “burning evil dolls” challenge began circulating on social media, urging children and teens to set dolls on fire in imitation of horror scenes.
Authorities said the viral challenge poses grave safety hazards, as burning materials such as plastic, fabric, and synthetic hair can easily cause fires, release toxic fumes, and result in severe burns or even fatalities.
The warning was released as part of the force’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign. Dubai Police called on parents to closely monitor their children’s online behavior and to educate them about the risks of following dangerous internet trends. Officials emphasized that many such challenges are designed merely to attract views and followers without regard for public safety.
Residents were also reminded to report any posts or messages promoting the trend through social media or messaging platforms. Police reiterated that sharing or reposting harmful content is a punishable offense under UAE law, as it threatens both lives and property.
Authorities underscored the importance of digital responsibility and urged the public to think critically before engaging with viral content, stressing that safety should always take precedence over online popularity.
