Dubai Police have announced that prospective buyers of second-hand vehicles will soon be able to access the accident histories of the cars they intend to purchase. Utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), buyers will gain insight into the accident data and mechanical conditions of vehicles.
According to a Khaleej Times report, this initiative is part of a broader plan by the Dubai Police to integrate AI into 29 administrative operations across various departments.
In addition, AI-powered technology will soon be used to analyze minor accidents in Dubai, generating reports instantly without the need for human intervention. This will streamline the current process, reducing the number of steps from seven to four.
The service, available on the Dubai Police app and website, is part of the ‘report minor accidents’ feature. Presently, accident details are submitted by drivers and reviewed by police officers before reports are issued. The new system will allow AI to analyze the accidents and issue reports directly to the involved parties.
Major-General Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, director of the AI department, mentioned that the updated police app now offers 70 services in seven languages. The app also includes a virtual officer named Amna, who provides assistance in Arabic and English. In 2023, Amna engaged in 20,000 conversations with the public.
Furthermore, the Smart Police Station (SPS), which operates without human officers, has been another AI-powered solution. Since the start of 2024, the SPS has welcomed 127,515 visitors and processed 36,376 transactions, offering 46 services through 25 stations across Dubai.
