The Dubai Police have recognized 22 exemplary drivers within the force who have maintained a flawless traffic record over the past three years. These drivers were honored under the ‘Safe Driving Stars’ program, which has significantly contributed to saving Dh24 million in government expenditure.
Colonel Samira Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Insurance Department at the General Administration of Transport and Rescue, emphasized the program’s impact, stating in a Khaleej Times report, “The initiative contributed to reducing traffic accidents involving force vehicles by 40 percent. This contributed to reducing the average response time to various emergencies to two and a half minutes.”
The ‘Safe Driving Stars’ program will eventually honor over 100 individuals, including civilians, across three categories for their commitment to safe driving. The initiative aims to encourage adherence to traffic laws, improve performance, and enhance road safety.
Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Excellence and Pioneering Affairs, Abdul Quddus Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, highlighted the broader goals of the initiative, saying, “The Safe Driving Stars initiative is one of the most prominent initiatives that aims to promote a culture of traffic safety and responsible driving and educate drivers on the best traffic practices. The initiative seeks to reduce traffic accidents.”
