Dubai Police impounded 17 vehicles and issued 101 fines last week to drivers involved in reckless and disruptive behavior on Al Meydan Street, including dangerous stunts, excessive noise, and illegal vehicle use.
Maj-Gen Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Acting Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations, stated that these actions posed significant risks to public safety and disturbed nearby residential areas. He added that the penalties include varying detention periods for the vehicles and fines in accordance with the Federal Traffic and Roads Law.
Under Decree No. 30 of 2023, violators face release fees of up to Dh50,000 as part of strict deterrent measures. Al Mazrouei reiterated Dubai Police’s zero-tolerance policy toward such behaviors to uphold road safety and the city’s reputation.
“Youth are urged to comply with traffic regulations to protect lives and maintain road security,” he said, emphasizing the alignment with the force’s #SafeRoadforEveryone awareness campaign.
The public is encouraged to report unsafe driving practices through the “Police Eye” feature on the Dubai Police smart app or the “We Are All Police” hotline at 901.
