Dubai Police have successfully arrested and extradited Faisal Taghi, a 24-year-old Dutch national, who is allegedly the leader of a notorious criminal organization known as the ‘Angels of Death’. Faisal faces charges of drug trafficking, money laundering, and human trafficking.
Authorities in the UAE acted upon an international warrant issued for Faisal, whom they described as “a high-value target” wanted by Dutch authorities. Faisal’s arrest marks another significant blow to the ‘Angels of Death’, following the capture of his father, Ridouan Taghi, in Dubai in 2019. Ridouan had entered the UAE using a false identity and was the Netherlands’ most wanted man at the time.
Earlier this year, Ridouan Taghi was sentenced to life in prison in the Netherlands for a series of gang-related murders, concluding one of the largest criminal trials in Dutch history. His syndicate has been linked to over 300 crimes, including assassinations and murders. Interpol had classified him as one of the most wanted criminals and the leader of one of the world’s most violent gangs, with Dutch authorities offering a reward of 100,000 euros for information leading to his arrest.
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof praised the UAE’s security cooperation, highlighting the “valuable role” of the Dubai Police in Faisal’s extradition.
