Dubai Police have detained 47 illegal street vendors for breaching public health and safety protocols since the start of Ramadan. On Friday, authorities announced the confiscation of several vehicles utilized for the unauthorized sale of fruits and vegetables.
Lt-Col Talib Mohammad Al Ameri, head of the Infiltrators Control Section in the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, emphasized the hazards associated with purchasing goods from unlicensed vendors. He stated, “The risks of purchasing food products from street vendors or unlicensed vehicles parked on public roads are significant, as these products may be of unknown origin, expired, and may not have undergone proper quality control checks to ensure their safety and compliance with standards.”
These arrests form a crucial part of Dubai Police’s efforts “to eliminate illegal activities and ensure the highest levels of security and safety for community members,” Lt-Col Al Ameri affirmed. He further disclosed that surprise inspections will persist, urging the public to promptly report violators through the 901 hotline or the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police smart app.
