Dubai plate number sold for Dh8.02 million at RTA auction

A special car plate number, AA17, fetched a whopping Dh8.02 million at a recent auction in Dubai, organized by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The auction, held on Saturday, marked the 116th open auction of distinguished plates, bringing in a total of Dh69.137 million.

According to a Gulf News report, AA17 attracted the highest bid of the event, followed by other notable plates like Y1000, which sold for Dh4.55 million, V96 for Dh4.1 million, and AA333, which went for Dh3.01 million.

A total of 90 distinguished plates, featuring two, three, four, and five-digit combinations, were up for grabs across various categories. The auction offered plates from popular series such as AA, L, N, P, and more, drawing the interest of collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The RTA’s auction strategy emphasizes transparency, neutrality, and fairness, ensuring that all participants have equal opportunities to acquire plates of personal significance, often tied to milestones or special occasions in their lives.
