The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Thursday that Dubai Metro’s operating hours will be extended over the weekend to accommodate increased passenger traffic. The metro will run from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. until Saturday, August 24, and from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sunday, August 25.
This move comes as Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest international airport, prepares to handle 3.43 million travelers over the next 13 days, with a significant influx expected as residents return from their summer holidays. Dubai Airports has stated that over half a million passengers will pass through DXB between August 31 and September 1, with September 1 projected to be the busiest day, accommodating 291,000 guests.
Earlier this month, DXB reported a record 44.9 million visitors in the first half of this year.
