Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced extended hours for the Dubai Metro and Tram in preparation for the New Year’s Eve celebrations. According to Abdullah Yousif Al Ali, CEO of RTA, the Metro and Tram services will operate non-stop for 40 hours, starting from December 31.
Extended Service Timings:
Dubai Metro: From 8 am on December 31 to the end of January 1.
Dubai Tram: From 9 am on December 31 until 1 am on January 2.
The RTA plans to enhance public convenience by introducing a fleet of 230 buses, which will be available free of charge. This initiative is part of the authority’s efforts to provide efficient transport options and reduce traffic congestion during the festive period.
Additional Parking Facilities:
To accommodate the expected increase in vehicles, the RTA has arranged around 900 additional parking spaces in Al Wasl and Al Jafiliya. This move aims to offer convenient and secure parking options for those attending the New Year celebrations.
Improved Signage Systems:
The RTA has also deployed additional signage systems to guide commuters and revelers during the festivities. These include road signs for parking locations and bus pick-up points, as well as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) signage to offer real-time information on road closures and alternative routes.
Al Ali emphasized the RTA’s commitment to enhancing Dubai’s transportation infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of its citizens and guests.
