Starting July 1, Dubai Mall will implement an automated parking fee system, where charges will be directly deducted from Salik user accounts, the toll gate operator announced on Wednesday. According to a Khaleej Times report, the new barrier-free parking payment solution will cover the Fashion, Grand, and Cinema parking zones of the mall.
While Zabeel and Fountain Views parking areas will remain free, the system will allow free parking for four hours on weekdays and six hours during weekends. After the free period, parking fees will range from Dh20 to Dh1,000 for durations between four to 24 hours.
Salik Company stated, “Our technology will ensure a seamless parking experience at Dubai Mall, using vehicle plate recognition to facilitate automatic fee deductions.”
The initiative is part of a five-year agreement between Salik and Dubai Mall, with Salik handling the system’s design, financing, development, installation, and management. In contrast, Dubai Mall will maintain the local infrastructure across 13,000 parking spaces.
Salik currently services 4.1 million vehicles, covering nearly 90% of the vehicles in the UAE. In the first quarter of 2024, Salik recorded its highest first-quarter revenue since 2007, with 122.8 million revenue-generating trips, earning Dh562 million, marking an 8.1% increase year-on-year.
Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik Company, highlighted the strategic importance of this move, “This step aligns with our goal to lead globally in smart and sustainable mobility solutions and to grow ancillary revenue streams. Our system eliminates the need for physical barriers, reducing congestion and enhancing customer convenience at Dubai Mall.”
He further added, “We are eager to build on this project’s success and expand our services to other locations in the future.”
