Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the world, is set to implement a paid parking system. Announced on Friday, December 22, the new system will be managed by Salik, the renowned toll gate operator.
Salik has outlined a futuristic approach to the parking system, where mall customers will experience ticketless parking. This innovative method involves automatic charging of parking fees through vehicle plate recognition, linking directly to the vehicle owner’s Salik account.
The transition to paid parking at Dubai Mall is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024. Emaar Malls, the mall’s operator, is in the process of finalizing the parking rules and fees for this new service.
Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO and board member of Salik Company PJSC, highlighted the seamless nature of this system, noting that it eliminates the need for traditional parking gates or barriers. This marks a first for the UAE, as Dubai Mall becomes the inaugural mall in the country to adopt a paid parking system that relies solely on vehicle plate recognition, foregoing the usual parking tickets and gates.
Al Haddad expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “We are looking forward to building on the successes of this initiative to expand the offering to other locations around the city.”
