Emaar Properties has unveiled plans for a substantial Dh1.5 billion expansion of Dubai Mall, aiming to make one of the world’s most visited sites even larger. This ambitious project will introduce 240 new luxury stores and food and beverage outlets.
“The new Dubai Mall expansion is a great addition to one of the most visited sites in the world,” said Mohamed Alabbar. “It reflects Dubai’s ambitious vision to remain at the forefront of global innovation and culture, further solidifying our city’s position as a top global destination.”
This announcement follows a record-breaking year for Dubai Mall, which welcomed 105 million visitors in 2023, a 19 percent increase from the previous year. Currently, Dubai Mall spans 1.2 million square meters and houses over 1,200 retail outlets, making it the world’s second-largest shopping mall.
Emaar is also working on another innovative project in Dubai Creek Harbor. This new mall will feature a unique design that allows customers to drive through it in electric cars. The development will also include a tower described by Alabbar as the “female Burj Khalifa.”
The contractor for the Dubai Mall expansion is already mobilizing on-site, signaling the commencement of this large-scale project.
