Dubai has unveiled a new initiative offering a short-term three-month ‘permit to practice’ for visiting medical professionals, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced on Wednesday at the Arab Health Congress 2024, Khaleej Times reported.
This groundbreaking move aims to bolster the local healthcare sector’s capacity to respond to emergencies, disasters, and various crises by facilitating the temporary engagement of international medical experts.
The scheme allows healthcare facilities in Dubai to promptly address their staffing needs and tap into specialized medical knowledge by issuing temporary permits for practicing medicine. Dr. Marwan Al Mulla, CEO of the DHA’s Health Regulation Sector, emphasized that while this permit offers a unique opportunity, it does not ensure the automatic acquisition of a professional license in the same field later on.
He clarified that obtaining a full professional license requires meeting the comprehensive criteria set forth in the Unified Professional Qualification Guide.
This is a developing story.
