Dubai has taken a significant step towards digital transformation by enabling the transfer of vehicle plate ownership online. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has launched a new service that allows residents to transfer number plates without the need to visit RTA centres physically. This initiative is a part of Dubai’s broader aim to become the world’s smartest city, aligning with the leadership’s vision.
The process is straightforward and can be completed with just a few taps through the UAE Pass. Both the buyer and seller are required to sign a sales purchase agreement (SPA) digitally using their UAE Pass, making the process more secure and efficient.
- To ensure a smooth transfer, certain conditions must be met:
- The seller and buyer must agree on the sales price and the payment method beforehand.
- The seller needs to collect the buyer’s details, including their UAE Pass, telephone number, or traffic file information.
- The entire selling and buying transaction will be registered and verified through the UAE Pass.
- A service fee is applicable and must be paid as part of the process.
