In preparation for the summer travel rush, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has announced that only passengers will be allowed inside the airport during “peak periods.” The airport operator has advised passengers to say their goodbyes at home, as access to the arrivals’ forecourts in Terminals 1 and 3 will be limited to public transport and authorized airport vehicles.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the move comes ahead of the four-day break from June 15-18 for the Islamic festival Eid Al Adha, and the subsequent school summer vacation starting in early July. DXB anticipates handling over 3.7 million passengers from June 12 to 25, with an average daily traffic of 264,000. June 22 is expected to be the busiest day, with over 287,000 passengers.
To manage the anticipated high traffic, DXB has issued several travel tips:
Flydubai passengers should arrive at least four hours before departure.
Emirates passengers are encouraged to use home-, early-, and self-check-in facilities, including city check-in options.
Passengers flying with other airlines should arrive no earlier than three hours before departure and utilize online check-in if available.
Familiarize yourself with airline baggage policies and pack accordingly to avoid surprises.
Be prepared for security screening by placing metal items in hand luggage and following guidelines for liquids, aerosols, and gels.
Families with children over 12 can use Smart Gates for faster passport control.
Stay updated on travel regulations for your destination and have all necessary documents ready.
Weigh luggage at home to avoid surprises at the airport.
Pack spare batteries and power banks in hand luggage.
Use the Dubai Metro for airport transfers to avoid road congestion.
