The world-renowned Dubai Fountain will hold its final performance on Saturday, April 19—earlier than its initially announced May closure—before going dark for an extensive renovation expected to last most of 2025.
Located beside the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, the fountain has long drawn crowds with its dazzling water, light, and music shows every 30 minutes each evening. The closure marks the beginning of a full-scale upgrade that will include new technology, enhanced choreography, and a revamped sound and lighting system.
Emaar, the company behind the iconic landmark, previously stated the renovation would take five months, but the early shutdown hints at a potentially longer timeline.
“Dubai Fountain stands as a reflection of Dubai’s bold vision and its ability to captivate and inspire on a global scale,” said Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar. “This restoration underscores our commitment to maintaining its legacy as a beacon of creativity and excellence. We look forward to welcoming guests back to experience the fountain in all its renewed splendour.”
The Dubai Fountain has mesmerized millions with performances that include classics like Time to Say Goodbye and modern hits like EXO’s Power and Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Its jets can shoot up to 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140 meters into the sky.
While the fountain is temporarily on pause, visitors can still explore other attractions nearby, such as the Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa viewing decks. Emaar assured the public that the revamped show will be worth the wait, promising an even more breathtaking experience once it returns.
