Dubai Fountain returns on October 1 with new look and bigger shows

The iconic Dubai Fountain, hailed as the world’s largest choreographed fountain system, is set to light up Downtown Dubai once again on October 1 after a five-month closure for extensive renovation.

Crowds of residents and tourists are expected to gather for the reopening, eager to witness the attraction’s famous blend of water, light, and music that has long been a centerpiece of the city’s tourism and cultural appeal.

Developer Emaar confirmed that Phase One of the renovation was completed ahead of schedule, covering vital works such as tiling, waterproofing, insulation, and painting. A new, more durable water-resistant floor was also installed, designed to replace older surfaces that had developed cracks, ensuring safety and longevity.

Phase Two of the project, targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2026, will introduce new technologies and creative elements aimed at further elevating the visitor experience.

“The return of Dubai Fountain is a celebration of Dubai itself – its spirit, its energy, and its ability to inspire the world,” said Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar. “This landmark brings people together, creating shared moments of wonder and joy. Its reopening reminds us of Dubai’s innovation, ambition, and dedication to creating unforgettable experiences.”

The fountain’s daily performances will resume with afternoon shows at 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Fridays at 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.), alongside evening displays running every half hour from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Behind the scenes, hundreds of workers and underwater cleaning robots have been involved in restoring the lake and maintaining water quality. The fountain, which spans an area equivalent to 18 football fields, operates through a vast system of water jets, robotic arms, and synchronized lighting programmed to music.
