Dubai drivers to get 2 hours free parking daily as Ramadan timings released

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has released updated schedules for paid parking and public transport services during Ramadan, confirming changes that will apply across the emirate from Monday to Saturday.

Under the revised system, public parking fees will be charged in two daily time blocks: from 8am to 6pm, and again from 8pm to 12 midnight. This creates a break in paid hours between 6pm and 8pm, giving motorists two hours of free parking around Maghrib, when many residents attend prayers and break their fast.

RTA also clarified that multi-storey parking facilities will continue operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the holy month.

The announcement follows an earlier advisory from Dubai toll operator Salik, which also confirmed adjustments to its toll timing schedule during Ramadan.

For public transport commuters, RTA outlined operating hours for the Dubai Metro and Dubai Tram, which will run on modified timetables.

Dubai Metro (Red Line and Green Line)

Monday to Thursday: 5am to 12 midnight

Friday: 5am to 1am (next day)

Saturday: 5am to 12 midnight

Sunday: 8am to 12 midnight

Dubai Tram

Monday to Saturday: 6am to 1am (next day)

Sunday: 9am to 1am (next day)

For those using public buses, RTA advised passengers to check the S’hail app for updated schedules. Marine transport riders were directed to refer to the RTA website for revised operating hours.

In addition to transport changes, RTA said it has also updated timings for customer happiness centres and other service providers, including vehicle inspection centres.

Separately, the UAE’s moon sighting committee is scheduled to meet on February 17 to observe the Ramadan crescent, while Saudi Arabia has also confirmed it will conduct its crescent sighting on the same date and urged the public to report any sightings through official channels.
