Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) marked the occasion of Sheikh Zayed Humanitarian Day by distributing over 600 pre-loaded nol cards to underprivileged families. Observed on the 19th day of Ramadan in the UAE, this initiative aims to provide essential support to those in need.
The nol cards, distributed by RTA, serve a dual purpose, allowing recipients to access public transport services as well as make essential purchases at select retail outlets across the emirate. This gesture is part of RTA’s broader Ramadan initiative, designed to bring joy and happiness to various segments of society during the holy month.
Under this initiative, RTA has also launched the ‘Modes of Good’ program, an expanded version of the annual ‘Meals on Wheels’ initiative. This program includes the distribution of 8,000 Iftar meals to public bus drivers, delivery bike riders, truck drivers, and Abra captains. Additionally, RTA has collaborated with Beit Al Khair Society for the Ramadan Tent Project, providing 2000 Iftar meals to fasting individuals.
In an effort to bring families closer together during Ramadan, RTA has installed telephone booths at select Metro stations. These booths offer commuters the opportunity to make free international calls to connect with their loved ones abroad. Stations equipped with this service include Al Ghubaiba, Union, and Jebel Ali Metro stations.
