Dubai deploys AI robot vehicles to track down visa violators

Dubai continues to fortify its reputation as one of the world’s safest cities with the introduction of a new AI-powered vehicle, designed to boost security and surveillance. The Dubai Police revealed this innovative technology at the Dubai Airshow 2023, showcasing a vehicle equipped with advanced AI capabilities, including facial and vehicle number plate recognition.

Dubbed MO2 and developed in collaboration with Micropolis Robotics, this autonomous vehicle is set to patrol the city’s streets, enhancing the surveillance system. Its primary functions include scanning faces and vehicle plates to identify criminals, visa violators, and unregistered cars. The AI technology enables the vehicle to alert authorities instantly if it detects any person wanted by the police or vehicles that violate registration norms.

This high-tech machine, operational for up to 16 hours, is a product of years of development, aiming to ensure optimal performance in maintaining public safety. The MO2’s deployment is anticipated “soon,” with locations being carefully selected to maximize its effectiveness in revolutionizing the city’s patrolling system.
