Dubai Municipality announced the completion of the Clock Tower Roundabout Development Project in Deira at a cost of Dh10 million. The project, which started in May 2023, aims to rejuvenate one of the city’s iconic landmarks.
The newly revamped roundabout now features a blend of architectural design and natural elements. The most striking addition is a modern water fountain, serving as the centerpiece, according to the Dubai Media Office.
Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted that the project showcases the city’s commitment to both historical preservation and modernity. The renovation has been completed on schedule and reflects Dubai’s position as a vibrant creative hub.
Several improvements have been incorporated into the development, including a new multi-tiered water fountain design equipped with a flexible water level control system and multi-colored lighting. The roundabout has been given a fresh coat of paint and now incorporates unique elements like precast concrete pebbled wash and three-dimensional design.
The Municipality has also added sustainable elements to the development, planting Ground Cover Sisifium in the inland basins and beautifying the area with Washingtonia palms and tiers of wildflowers.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency, emphasized that the newly designed water fountain aligns perfectly with the architecture of the clock tower. The fountain’s nozzles feature RGB lighting and a smart sensor that adjusts the water jets based on wind conditions.
The development project also introduces a new lighting system, including mapping and three-dimensional formats, that can be used for national ceremonies and events.
