Dubai commuters get chance to win up to 1 million nol plus points

In celebration of the 14th Public Transport Day, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that loyal commuters can win up to one million nol Plus points for their consistent use of public transport in Dubai. The festivities, which began on Wednesday, will continue till November 8 with the theme ‘Gym on the Go’. This initiative aims to highlight the health and fitness benefits of using public transport.

RTA’s rewards target the most regular users of Dubai Metro, Tram, buses, marine transport, and more from the last five years. This includes the general public, People of Determination, RTA employees, and participants from both governmental and private sectors. To be eligible, participants need to register on the RTA website and link their nol card.

Rowdah Al Mehrizi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at RTA, stated in a Khaleej Times report, “The top three riders in each category stand to win between 250,000 to 1 million nol Plus points.”

The nol Plus programme, run by RTA, benefits its members every time they utilize their nol card for various services in Dubai, such as the metro, taxis, buses, and even parking. Points accumulated can be used for topping up the nol card or for discounts at certain retail outlets and restaurants.

This year’s Public Transport Day, which is on November 1, marks RTA’s 18th year of service. It also aligns with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, initiated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

RTA has a range of events lined up for the occasion, many of which emphasize the 2023 Year of Sustainability. The public is encouraged to engage in sports activities at transport stations for a week, and partake in various contests and events.

One highlight includes a GPS CANVAS Interface competition spearheaded by social media influencers, where they’ll navigate Dubai’s public transport systems to create unique GPS drawings. The public is then urged to mimic these routes and share their GPS artwork, with a chance for five participants to win.

An emphasis on environmental sustainability is also evident. Al Mehrizi mentioned a smartphone game that promotes the protection of endangered animals and carbon footprint reduction. Players can hunt for virtual treasures on the RTA microsite, representing the rescue of threatened species, with the opportunity to win prizes from RTA.
