Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering residents a chance to win AED 10,000 and a 50-gram gold bar by locating a ‘mysterious man’ at metro stations as part of its 15th Public Transport Day celebrations. Starting on October 28, 2024, the initiative will culminate on November 1, Public Transport Day, under the theme “Good for you, Great for Dubai.”
One of the highlights of the event is the “Mysterious Man Challenge,” a contest encouraging commuters to search for the ‘mysterious man’ in Dubai Metro stations from October 30 to November 1. Winners will receive AED 10,000 each day, with the grand prize on November 1 featuring an additional gold bar alongside the cash prize.

“This year’s theme aims to encourage residents and visitors to contribute to making Dubai the best city to live in by using public transport,” said Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Corporate Administrative Support Sector at the RTA. The initiative also focuses on promoting wellness—social, financial, emotional, health, intellectual, and environmental—through a series of competitions and events.
Apart from the “Mysterious Man Challenge,” RTA will reward the most frequent public transport users across six categories, including a new category for those using public transport since 2009, as well as categories for students, senior citizens, and People of Determination. Winners will be awarded up to 1 million nol+ points and honored at a special ceremony.
Since its launch in 2009, Public Transport Day has played a significant role in promoting the use of public transport in Dubai and supporting the city’s sustainability goals.
