St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai has officially released its schedule for Ash Wednesday Masses, marking the beginning of the Lenten season for the faithful. The observance, which falls on March 5, 2025, will feature multiple Masses throughout the day, providing parishioners ample opportunities to participate in this significant Christian tradition.
The schedule for Ash Wednesday Masses at St. Mary’s Catholic Church is as follows:
- Morning Masses: 5:30 AM, 6:30 AM, 7:30 AM, 9:00 AM, and 12:00 PM
- Afternoon Masses: 3:00 PM, 4:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 7:30 PM
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40-day Lenten period leading up to Easter Sunday, a time of repentance, fasting, and reflection for Christians worldwide. The church encourages attendees to arrive early due to the expected large congregation and to observe the solemnity of the occasion.
During the services, clergy will administer the imposition of ashes on the foreheads of the faithful in the shape of a cross, accompanied by the words: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” The ashes, traditionally made from the burnt palms of the previous year’s Palm Sunday, serve as a symbol of humility and repentance.
